Horse Sense

The Presidio has a horse stable with four beautiful horses. These horses attend all the major events that take place in the Presidio.

The officers that are stationed here are Federal Police Officers and conduct vehicle, motorcycle, and horse patrols. The stables are located in two long one story buildings just under the Golden Gate Bridge by the pet cemetery. People can go to the stables, talk with the officers and pet the horses. Volunteers care for the up-keep of the stables and grooming of the horses.

These majestic animals are simply beautiful to watch.

Support Network

Many times in life there is a need for help. Recovery is no exception. Whether it is recovery from substance abuse or mental health issues, one stands a better chance when they have a support network.

A good support network can be found at a 12 step group tailored to your specific need. There, you will find “Birds of a Feather” so to speak; people who have a common goal.

Regular attendance at one of these groups allows you to meet people and make acquaintances. If you attend one specific group on a regular basis you call this your Home Group.

There are many 12 step groups in the Bay Area. All you have to do is search the Internet for “san francisco support systems”.

Facts about HIV

HIV is the name of the virus that causes AIDS, the acquired immune deficiency syndrome. People infected with HIV are called HIV positive.

The immune system's job is to protect the body from infection. When the immune system is weakened by HIV, it can no longer protect you. This means you can become sick with infections that would do not usually make a healthy person sick. These infections are often difficult to treat and are called "opportunistic infections" because they take the "opportunity" to infect a person who has a weakened immune system.

The immune system fights infection and keeps the body healthy in many ways. One of these ways is with the CD4+ cell, which is also called the "T-helper cell." HIV hurts the immune system by destroying CD4+ cells. HIV can continue to destroy healthy cells until the body is no longer able to manufacture enough replacement CD4+ cells.

I am a 50 year old African American male who is living with HIV when I learn that I was positive I though it was a death sentence and now I know that it not. I can still be in a sexual relationship, I can still go to work, I can still raise a healthy family, and continue to do the many things that I enjoy in life. That’s because living life to the fullest with HIV does not take a miracle- it just takes commitment.

Commitment means making good choices about sex, drugs alcohol, cigarettes, diet, and exercise. It also means reaching out for support from friends and professionals. When you are HIV positive, a strong partnership with your doctor can make all the difference. Keep up with your medical treatment plan, keep your appointment, take all your medicines;, and know when to ask for help.

The Value of Reading

The Chronicle is the best value in the city at only a dollar with its prize winning authors and the award winning photographs. I really don’t need to say more. The creative and informative writing of the Chronicle reporters carries you to a place, that TV news can not take you. Did you know as a reader you get more news in half a page, than you would get out of a half hour news cast.

Enjoy the news when and where you want to not when it is brought to you, inform yourself at your own leisure. You can go to the section you want and throw out the rest or just save the comics for when you need a laugh! Think of the award winning photos you can save or show to a friend. No one likes to waste their time on commercials that try to sell something that you do not even want. And lastly you get to use you brain!

My favorite on staff writers are Tom Abate, Tom Fitzgerald, Marisa Lagos, and many more.

Each job takes me to a different part of the country. In my travels I meet all types of people which are very enjoyable. I take pleasure in driving all over seeing many cites. Days and nights seem to go very fast. I enjoy what I do for a living.

Extinctionfornia

Seismic reconstruction of the Doyle Drive access route to Marin county and San Francisco via Golden Gate bridge has finally begun. This comes, however, with a cost to the delicate indigenous flora that makes the Presidio its home. The Mediterranean climate, diverse habitats and the presence of varied geologic soil conditions, coupled with nutrient varied soils (serpentine derived soil conditions) all allow for the flourishing of special and unique plant.

There are twelve species at risk of extinction, that thrive in this unique and sustaining area. The exceptional and the rewarding experience they provide when encountered on a morning walk or day hike through this breathtaking and scenic area is all the more reason for their special consideration. The twelve species are 1) Presidio clarkia 2) dune gilia 3) San Francisco lessingia 4) San Francisco wallflower 5) San Francisco campion 6) San Francisco owl’s clover 7) Marin dwarf flax 8) Presidio clarkia 9) raven’s manzanita 10) franciscan thistle 11) San Francisco gumplant 12) coast rock cress

It is essential to maintain and keep the Presidio’s ecological balance. This insures a healthy and balanced equilibrium between the plants, insects, herbivores and carnivores who are all indigenous to this highly unique and scenic wonderland.

Parents who teach their children to read the Bible get blessings in many ways. Learning how to read is a good educational foundation. Then there is the great moral lessons and teachings on so many subjects like love, patience, and obedience. There are many parables which provide a wealth of spirituality. The bible also teaches about history, geography, archeology, angels and demons and that old devil himself Satan. When it comes to marriage and Christian character the bible lays down the law.

The Bible is one of the most important books in the world and always a best seller. There is more written about Jesus Christ than any other person in history. Also there are many children stories in the Bible
